“Saving Hearts, Saving lives” could be heard loudly on all the streets of Mumbai amongst all the enthusiastic children participating in the Little Hearts Marathon 2014.
The “Little Hearts marathon 2014” was one of the major healthcare events held in 2014 with a humongous participation of more than 5000 children making the event a great triumph for the community at large.
The primary motive is to make people realise the importance of prevention of cardiac diseases in children and to set up a dedicated cardiac unit for disadvantaged children who are already/will be suffering cardiac diseases.
With the extraordinarily large participation ranging from children to adults, school students to teachers and hospital staff to volunteers the event was made a great success.
The pre-event curtain raising ceremony was held on the 21st of January in the presence of Master-Blaster Bharat Ratna Shri. Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Mrs. Anjali Tendulkar. The living legend said that it was an honour for him to support the noble initiative by Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for children.
He was so touched by the plightful sight of the children that he said “As a parent I feel so difficult to accept that you are going to lose your child and that thought numbed me completely”
The 2014 marathon kicked off with Flag off by none other than our Brand ambassador Superstar Shri. Salman Khan along with Chief guest Shri. Suresh Shetty, Guest of Honour, Smt. Satvasheela Prithviraj Chavan and numerous celebrities, renowned personalities, well-wishers and friends of Wadia hospital which added jubilation to the event.
The whole hearted involvement of people from all the age groups helped in making the event a great success.
